This trip through Oceania is set at Easy. The 11 questions come in three legs — Flags (4 questions), then Name the country (4 questions), then Capitals (3 questions) — and visit 11 countries in all.
- The flags leg names 4 countries and gives you four flags each time, 11 different flags in all.
- In the naming leg 4 countries light up on the map and you choose each name from four.
- The capitals leg turns things round: 3 capitals, and you name the country of each.
The Easy setting keeps to well-known countries; the wrong answers come from other subregions and are rarely close.
The full route, drawn from capital to capital as the questions come, measures 30,480 km: 10 hops in all.
Tips from the window seat
- Flags: Plain tricolours are the hardest; check the colour of the middle band.
- Name the country: Look at the coastline first: which sea a country touches rules out half the options.
- Capitals: Capitals that are not the largest city are the classic trap.
After the landing
Finish the third leg and the expedition is stamped in your passport; the button for expedition #1098 appears right under the quiz.
