This trip through Africa is set at Hard. The 14 questions come in three legs — Flags (5 questions), then Name the country (6 questions), then Bigger or smaller (3 questions) — and visit 17 countries in all.
- The flags leg names 5 countries and gives you four flags each time, 16 different flags in all.
- In the naming leg 6 countries light up on the map and you choose each name from four.
- The size leg is 3 population duels: which of two countries has more people?
At the Hard level the obvious countries are left out and the wrong options are close neighbours of the right one, or, for flags, the closest look-alikes.
Capital to capital, in question order, the route covers 62,200 km over 16 hops.
Tips from the window seat
- Flags: Look for the small details: a star, a crescent, an emblem.
- Name the country: Count the neighbours you recognise around the yellow shape.
- Bigger or smaller: Do not trust the map for area: flat maps distort sizes.
After the landing
Finish the third leg and the expedition is stamped in your passport; the button for expedition #1046 appears right under the quiz.
