Three legs, 14 questions, 14 countries of North and Central America: that is expedition #1038, flown at the Hard level. First Capitals (4 questions), then Find the country (6 questions), and to finish Name the country (4 questions).
- The capitals leg turns things round: 4 capitals, and you name the country of each.
- In the map leg you tap 6 countries; a miss shows the right one and how far away you were.
- In the naming leg 4 countries light up on the map and you choose each name from four.
Hard skips the easiest quarter of the region and offers the nearest neighbours as wrong answers; on flags, the most similar-looking ones too.
If you joined the stops capital to capital, in the order the questions bring them, the dashed line would be 17,000 km long, with 13 hops between 14 stops.
Tips from the window seat
- Capitals: Say the pair in both directions in your head after each answer.
- Find the country: Zoom in for the small ones; at the full view a few countries are only a dot.
- Name the country: Count the neighbours you recognise around the yellow shape.
After the landing
Finish the third leg and the expedition is stamped in your passport; the button for expedition #1039 appears right under the quiz.
