This trip through Africa is set at Hard. The 13 questions come in three legs — Bigger or smaller (3 questions), then Capitals (5 questions), then Name the country (5 questions) — and visit 16 countries in all.
- The size leg is 3 population duels: which of two countries has more people?
- The capitals leg alternates: 5 questions, country to capital and back again.
- In the naming leg 5 countries light up on the map and you choose each name from four.
At the Hard level the obvious countries are left out and the wrong options are close neighbours of the right one, or, for flags, the closest look-alikes.
Capital to capital, in question order, the route covers 51,380 km over 15 hops.
Tips from the window seat
- Bigger or smaller: For population, think of the big cities you know in each country.
- Capitals: If two cities sound right, think of which country each one belongs to.
- Name the country: Look at the coastline first: which sea a country touches rules out half the options.
After the landing
Finish the third leg and the expedition is stamped in your passport; the button for expedition #1142 appears right under the quiz.
