Three legs, 11 questions, 14 countries of Africa: that is expedition #1158, flown at the Hard level. First Bigger or smaller (3 questions), then Capitals (4 questions), and to finish Flags (4 questions).
- The size leg mixes 3 duels on people and on land.
- The capitals leg alternates: 4 questions, country to capital and back again.
- The flags leg names 4 countries and gives you four flags each time, 13 different flags in all.
Hard skips the easiest quarter of the region and offers the nearest neighbours as wrong answers; on flags, the most similar-looking ones too.
If you joined the stops capital to capital, in the order the questions bring them, the dashed line would be 42,300 km long, with 13 hops between 14 stops.
Tips from the window seat
- Bigger or smaller: Do not trust the map for area: flat maps distort sizes.
- Capitals: Capitals that are not the largest city are the classic trap.
- Flags: Plain tricolours are the hardest; check the colour of the middle band.
After the landing
